The Catholic Church

(updated Tue. June 13,, 2017)

The Catholic Church

Catholic means “universal.”

The Catholic Church is the one true Church that was directly founded by Jesus Christ.

The Roman Catholic Church was founded when Jesus laid the foundation for our faith by saying to Peter, the first pope, “You are rock, and upon this rock I will build My Church.”

(Mattthew 16:18-19)

Faith is what we believe.

We believe in God’s love for us so much that He sent His own son to die for our sins, that we may live a life that gets us to heaven.

We believe in the beauty of His Creation, which is all around us.

It’s easy to get distracted from the things we believe, to get focused doing things.

We need prayers throughout each day to remind us that God is most important.

Technology can be used for work, and for fun.

Technology can also be used to help you grow in your faith.

The links shared on this site are shared to help you deepen your faith, but seeing the sites alone is not enough... enter into a prayer relationship with God so He can bring you closer to Him and His Love.

We are blessed in St. Louis to have many beautiful churches, and the beauty of all is to help each of us better appreciate the beauty of God and all he provides us.

The “New Cathedral,” the Cathedral Basilica of Saint Louis, is one of many examples.  It is one of the largest mosaic collections in the western hemisphere.

The Creighton Model, over 98% effective:

NFP and more - http://nfpandmore.org

“Natural Family Planning (NFP) is not contraception. NFP gives a married couple a way to space out childbirths and limit the total number of children. But it does not give the couple complete control over procreation. Even when the couple prayerfully decides to limit their family size, or to wait before having another child, NFP is open to the possibility of life and to the will of God. NFP is used in a moral and praiseworthy manner when the couple, though making responsible decisions about family size, are still willing to accept an unplanned child from God's Providence. ”
as noted at http://www.natural-family-planning.info/

NFP, from The U.S. Council of Catholic Bishops:

“NFP reflects the dignity of the human person within the context of marriage and family life, promotes openness to life, and recognizes the value of the child. By respecting the love-giving and life-giving natures of marriage, NFP can enrich the bond between husband and wife.”

http://usccb.org/issues-and-action/marriage-and-family/natural-family-planning/

NFP also facilitates much more open communication between a couple, in all aspects of their marriage.

George Weigel’s take on TOTB

http://www.tobinstitute.org/page.asp?ContentID=5

“George Weigel, author of Witness to Hope: The Biography of Pope John Paul II, calls this papal study of human sexuality “one of the boldest reconfigurations of Catholic theology in centuries” – a “theological time-bomb set to go off with dramatic consequences ...perhaps in the twenty-first century.” At this point the Pope’s vision of sexual love “has barely begun to shape the Church’s theology, preaching, and religious education.” But when it does, Weigel predicts, “it will compel a dramatic development of thinking about virtually every major theme in the Creed” (pp. 336, 343, 853).”

The Architecture of Catholic Churches

Did you ever wonder why Catholic Churches have the shapes they do?

All of the reasons are heavenly in nature, as the purpose of a Church is for man, to lift our eyes up, to see God, and to aspire to be with him always.
