Background

The Wabash, Frisco, & Pacific Railroad is a 12-inch gauge railroad operating in west St. Louis County.  The WFPRR operates Sundays, May through October, from 11am-4pm.

The WFPRR celebrates its 70th year of operation in 2009.

2-4 trains operate at a time, pulled by locomotives powered by steam or gasoline.

The steam engines are powered by coal and oil fires.

One of the engines is over 100 years and two others are over 80 years old.

The engines typically pull 8 cars at a time, which can carry 8-12 adults and children.

While the nice September and October weather greatly increases passenger traffic, the shorter lines in the hot summer let riders on with very short waits, and they are rewarded with nice breezed that make our 100+ degree days actually feel comfortable.

The WFPRR is truly one of the best reasons to live in St. Louis.
