Jackson to Park City

Summer Vacation 2017, “Out West!”

Day 8:  Jackson, WY, to Park City, UT

1. 1)A relaxing morning with a little shopping in Jackson’s town square
   

2. 2)Family Photo with one of the four elk horn arches, at the corners of the town square
   

3. 3)A relaxing drive through impressive mountains
   

4. 4)Seeing the World’s Largest Elk Horn Arch, in Afton, WY
   

5. 5)An almost constant downhill once we got into Utah, and impressive grades for the UP / Union Pacific railroad’s trains that paralleled the highway (actually I-80 follows the transcontinental RR, which follows the grade of the land)
   

6. 6)Arriving in Park City, and eating next to the hotel, where we met someone who knows somebody at the office - they used to work together in St. Louis (small world, again)

We got up and walked around town and then drove south to Park City... we experienced a variety of landscapes as we went from Wyoming to Idaho to Wyoming to Utah to Wyoming to Utah... that’s just the way the road flows.

We saw the world’s largest elk antlers, spanning the road in Afton, WY.

Granted, we only drove 5-10 miles in Idaho,
BUT we did drive through Geneva (not quite Switzerland, but definitely nice!)
AND we almost continued on to visit Paris, but that was another 45-minutes or so out of the way and we wanted to arrive in Park City by dinner, so we plan to go there on our next visit!

We captured some intentionally blurred images, for effect and because they represented the view out the window... depending on just where you were focusing your eyes.

Since we were getting hungry, we ate there for dinner.

Abby saw two dogs; they are Kuchi dogs (sounds like Cochise) - the one soldier shared that they used to playfully take the shoes of the Afghan soldiers, who were not happy about that.  He asked to bring the dogs back home to the US, but wasn't sure the Afghan General would make it happen... then, one day, the US soldier got a call that the dogs were in New York CIty.

The soldier and his wife are driving from Washington to Virginia, where he's being reassigned.

His wife used to work with someone that now works with Dad at Charter... small world.
