Summer Vacation 2018 - Hawaii
(created Sat. July 21, 2018)

This page provide highlights from our visit to Kauai
(color: purple, per GoHawaii.com)
-We celebrated Sunday Mass at Immaculate Conception Church in Lihue, and also visited the first Catholic Church on Kauai - St. Rapheal
-Na Pali Catamaran cruise, from Hanalei (home of Puff the Magic Dragon), to snorkel on the other side of the Na Pali coast
We departed from Hanalei Bay, which is home to Puff the Magic Dragon (song by Peter, Paul Mary)
The Na Pali coast cliffs are 1,800 - 2,000 feet tall.
There are countless waterfalls.
This sea cave has a waterfall cascading across its entrance and our captain drove us right through it and we were soaked by the cool (not cold) water - awesome!
the snorkeling was fun
the ride home was windy... see Abby’s hair
-much lazy time in the activity center of our hotel
-the state flower, the yellow hibiscus, as captured by Abby
yes... two bugs in this flower!
something we named “fuscia fire” because of its light purple color ... we don’t know its real name
-date night... at Sushi Katsu
-(virgin) pina coladas... we found Creme of Coconut and made them ourselves in our room!
-frisbee and catch in the ocean, and soccer on the beach, at Kalapaki Beach
-frisbee and catch in the pool
-chickens, even in the rental car parking lot... they are apparently protected as nobody knows if any one chicken is from the original royal Tahitian rooster family, so they just roam free in many many places on all three islands (we saw none in 2000).
