Photos of two Kauai churches
Immaculate Conception Catholic Church
Saint Rapheal the Archangel Catholic Church

We celebrated Mass on Sunday morning at Immaculate Conception Church in Lihue, where they also greet visitors with leis made from seashells.
After Mass, Abby and I looked at the mosaics on the wall, which are similar to St. Michael the Archangel in Kona...
...these mosaics celebrate Saint Fr. Damian and Saint Marianne Cope.
While Fr. Damian eventually succumbed to leprosy, neither Marianne Cope nor any of her sisters who also help the lepers of Molokai have ever contracted leprosy / Hansen’s disease, not even to this day (they arrived in 1883).
As we looked, a lady offered to take our photos. As we talked, she shared that she had visited St. Louis and celebrated Mass at the Old Cathedral, by the Arch, and that she likes St. Louis quite a bit.
She also recommended that we try to visit St. Rapheal, the first Church on Kauai. We weren’t sure we could do that, but then, after lunch we saw a sign pointing us 3/4 of a mile down the road to St. Rapheal.
“Raphael is sometimes shown as standing atop a large fish or holding a caught fish at the end of a line. This is a reference to Book of Tobit, where he told Tobias to catch a fish, and then uses the gallbladder to heal Tobit's eyes, and to drive away Asmodeus by burning the heart and liver.”
