Kalapacki Beach - boogie boarding, frisbee and more

While we clearly enjoyed many activities on this trip, we had only booked two things before we left - the Moku Nui lava boat and the Na Pali Catamaran boat rides - and only had two more activities on our “must see” lists... Ann Marie wanted to see the Polynesian Cultural Center and to snorkel in Hanauma Bay. For everything else, we just discussed and planned together as a family as we went along on the trip.
The Moku Nui lava boat trip was the day before flying to Oahu, and the early morning drive for the lava reset our sleep clocks and pushed us back into jet-lag so by time we were in Oahu we were back on mainland time, which we needed to correct. Once on Oahu, we woke up later than usual so we did less. And we did most things outside the resort so we didn’t do much in the resort, and they have and awesome pool with waterfalls and more.
So by time we arrived on Kauai, we decided to spent more time enjoying the activities at the resort; we stayed at Marriott’s Kauai Lagoons - Kalanipu’u. So we only left one day to explore the churches and find pizza for lunch, and another day for the Na Pali Catamaran boat ride.
The activity desk team - Princess, for fun with smores, poolside snacks, the travel bags and luggage tags.
Thanks to the front desk team - Candee, McKenna, and Asher. McKenna helped us find the pizza, and also pointed us to some great sushi at Sushi Katshu. And all three helped us figure out what to do at the resort.
Our room provides an awesome view of Nawiliwili Harbor.
We also discovered what look to be some pretty large snails / slugs, along the walkway.
This property is smaller than most Marriott Vacation Club properties, with only 75 rooms. And all look to have the same balcony which have five doors that open, accordion-like, to open the entire room to the patio. Nice!
Bamboo pole fishing, with just pieces of hot dog to catch the several baby talapia, all of which we released / threw back into the water.
This is yet another chicken found on the island... this may have been the one that woke us up with several cock-a-doodle-doos the one morning... a first for all four of us, waking to a rooster.
We watched “Jurassic Park,” with several other guests, at the pool’s dive-in theater.
The kids had fun shooting soccer goals
We learned how to play the ukulele.
We also visited the other Marriott property, with its artwork and flight-less birds
a Hawaiian nene goose
We had a lot of fun in the surf at Kalapaki Beach
Back at Marriott’s Kauai Lagoons - Kalanipu’u...
“Palm Tree eclipse” (not quite the same as the Great American Eclipse of 2017)
;)
And Abby captured some great images of the plants and flowers on the property
This yellow flower is a hibiscus, the state flower
this red flower is ginger
